Bishop $721,692 Continues to Hold Cash on Hand Advantage on Gilbert’s $413,771
Brighton, MI—The Mike Bishop for Congress campaign announced today that he continues 2016 with the cash on hand advantage of $721,692. Bishop again surpassed his Democratic challenger and IRS tax cheat Melissa Gilbert in cash on hand according to reports filed this weekend.
Melissa Gilbert had an awful week getting blasted for her 2009 comments on the television show, The View, where she defended powerful Hollywood director Roman Polanski over a victim who he drugged and raped as a 13-year old. Based on the comments, Michigan Republican Party Chair Ronna Romney McDaniel declared Gilbert unfit to serve in Congress.
“Melissa Gilbert’s poor spending habits continue from her personal life to her political life. As Tax Day approaches, Gilbert owes $470,000 in back taxes to the IRS and loses the campaign cash on hand war once again. Gilbert’s continued spending gives Bishop the edge on campaign resources in the upcoming election,” stated Stu Sandler, spokesperson for Mike Bishop for Congress. “It’s no wonder Nancy Pelosi supports Melissa Gilbert and her Hollywood values. With Gilbert’s record of fiscal irresponsibility, she would undoubtedly support the Obama-Pelosi policies which have caused this nation to be $19 trillion in debt.”
Bishop filed with $220,695 raised for the 1st quarter of 2016 with $721,692 cash on hand. Gilbert filed with for the 4th quarter of 2015 with $413,771 cash on hand coming into 2016–along with her $470,0000 tax debt owed to the IRS.
