Endorsement Cites His “Background in Collaborative Governing”
Rochester, MI – Today, the Mike Bishop for Congress campaign announced Mike Bishop’s endorsement by the Detroit News for the November 4th election.
In today’s edition, the News stated, “Former Michigan Senate Majority Leader Mike Bishop came out on top of the Republican primary. Bishop has strong legislative experience. As leader of the state Senate under a Democratic governor, he proved effective in advocating for the minority party and also working with Democrats to forge important legislation. That background in collaborative governing will serve him well in a House wracked by partisanship. His opponent is Ingham County Treasurer Eric Schertzing. Mike Bishop gets our endorsement.”
Mike Bishop said, “I am honored and humbled to receive the endorsement of the Detroit News. These past several months have allowed me to interact with so many people from all sides of the political spectrum and I truly believe I’ll be an effective voice for the 8thDistrict in the United States House of Representatives. Our message of lower taxes, less government and more freedom is something many people agree with and I appreciate the Detroit News editorial board’s recognition and confidence in our campaign.”
Mike Bishop is currently Chief Legal Officer for International Bancard Corporation and is also an Adjunct Professor at Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Prior to his first election in 1998, Bishop was a private practice attorney, serving families, small businesses, and local governments.
Bishop lives in Rochester with his wife Cristina and their three children.
