Watchdog Group Calls on FEC to Impose Penalties
Brighton, MI—The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust, a watchdog group based in Washington DC, filed a legal complaint today against the Suzanna Shkreli campaign for Congress, Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and Hillary for America for illegally spending special interest money in coordination with the Suzanna Shkreli congressional campaign. The complaint filed with the Federal Elections Commission today calls out the Shkreli campaign and the other Democratic entities for improperly using a loophole to send Shkreli’s struggling campaign with special interest money.
“Suzanna Shkreli was handpicked by liberal party bosses and Nancy Pelosi. Suzanna Shkreli is down in the polls and desperate so she worked out this scheme with liberal special interests to help manipulate the law to help her floundering campaign,” stated Stu Sandler, Mike Bishop for Congress spokesperson. “Ms. Shkreli should stop this illegal scheme immediately and follow the law.”
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and Suzanna Shkreli are currently running a combined advertisement which they claim is a hybrid advertisement in an effort to help the DCCC subsidize Shkreli’s advertising budget with special interest money. The complaint alleges “the DCCC exceeded its assigned party coordinated expenditure limit with respect to Shkreli.” The complaint goes on to ask “we urge the [Federal Elections] Commission to find reason to believe violations of the law occurred, investigate the charges raised, and imposed all appropriate penalties.”
Last week, the Mike Bishop for Congress released an internal poll conducted by Public Opinion Strategies which showed Mike Bishop up 18 points over Ms. Shkreli, 49%-31%. Also, according to FEC reports filed October 1, Mike Bishop holds a 6-1 cash on hand advantage over Ms. Shkreli with $899,000 for the Bishop campaign to $150,000 for the Shkreli campaign.
