Brighton, MI – Today, the Mike Bishop for Congress campaign announced the endorsement of former Michigan Republican gubernatorial candidate and current Windquest Group President, Dick DeVos. DeVos, who ran for Governor in 2006 against Jennifer Granholm, recently was a major influence in Michigan becoming the 24th Right to Work state in the nation and is a leader in the charter school movement.
Dick DeVos said, “Mike Bishop is an exceptional public servant and a leader who greatly helped our campaign against Governor Granholm in 2006. As Senate Majority Leader, Mike Bishop was relentless in his battles with Governor Granholm and his fight for conservative principles. We need a leader like Mike Bishop in Washington to fight the Obama administration like he fought the Granholm administration.”
Bishop said, “I am honored and thank Dick DeVos for his endorsement. Dick’s long standing record of service to the people of Michigan has been unwavering. From charter schools to right to work, both out in front and behind the scenes, Dick DeVos has advanced the causes of liberty and freedom and helped Michigan rise from the lost decade of the Granholm years.”
Recently, Mike Bishop was endorsed by the Detroit News where the newspaper stated, “As majority leader of the state Senate during the Granholm years, Bishop was the sole anchor that kept Michigan from being dragged even deeper into the swamp of union-dictated policies that nearly ruined the state.” Mike Bishop has also been endorsed by Congressman Mike Rogers, Oakland County Executive Brooks Patterson, Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard, and more than 100 other elected official and grassroots endorsement.
Mike Bishop is currently Chief Legal Officer for International Bancard Corporation and is also an Adjunct Professor at Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Prior to his first election in 1998, Bishop was a private practice attorney, serving families, small businesses, and local governments.
Bishop lives in Rochester with his wife Cristina and their three children.
